The federal government has flagged-off the cash grant for rural women in the South-East. According to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social development, Sadiya Umar Farouq launched the program in Ebonyi State on Thursday, November 19. The Minister advised the women to make judicious use of the one-off 20, 000 cash grant by starting up petty businesses or adding the grant to already established small businesses. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has on Thursday advised EndSARS protesters to approach the Judicial panel of inquiry with their evidence of deaths at Lekki toll gate. The Federal Government said it would resume meeting with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU on Friday. The Ministry of Labour and Employment spokesman, Charles Akpan, disclosed that the dialogue with the ASUU leaders would hold at the Minister’s conference hall. Akpan said the government said it had agreed to pay N30 billion Earned Academic Allowance, N20b for the revitalization of the education sector and the arrears of salaries to the university teachers. The Lagos State Government has announced the partial closure of the service lane inbound Maryland from the end of Gani Fawehinmi Park to the end of the Second Pedestrian Bridge, Ojota. The closure is to take effect from Tuesday, November 17, 2020, for six weeks in continuation of the reconstruction along Ikorodu Road. The Federal government has announced a plan to re-open more airports in the country. The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika announced this via a tweet on Tuesday. He said the Ministry of Aviation is working with the Ministry of Health and the Presidential Task Force, PTF to re-open Kano airport. Others are Port Harcourt and possibly Enugu airports to be re-opened before the end of the year. Sirika added that Lufthansa, Air France/KLM has been given the go-ahead to resume. The Director-General of the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has reminded Corps members that white-collar jobs were not readily available. Ibrahim, however, urged them to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by the Government through the empowerment programs. He added that the NYSC has trained thousands of Corps Members.
