Following the recently announced 5 million naira hate speech fine, a non-governmental organisation, Expression Now Human Rights Initiative has dragged the Federal Government before the ECOWAS Court of Justice. The group in the suit filed by its lawyer, Solomon Okedara referred to the provisions of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code (6th Edition) on fine for hate speech. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC has revealed how its Group Managing Director Mele Kyari secured a $300m reduction in the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas project. The Corporation explained that the leadership of the NNPC led by Kyari within one year of his stewardship brought the project on track after several failed attempts to commence project activities in the last thirteen years. The federal government is set to launch a Survival Fund, targeting small and medium-scale businesses across several sectors. The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has reacted to an intelligence report released by the Nigeria Customs Service suggesting that members of the Boko Haram sect have erected camps in some parts of Abuja, Kogi and Nasarawa state with plans to stage an attack in these areas. The Cybercrime Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, INTERPOL, National Central Bureau, Abuja has arrested two suspects for their complicity in a major multi-million Euro COVID-19 related scam. In response to a Freedom of Information request jointly made by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP and Connected Development, the Federal Government says it spent N30.5 billion on efforts to curtail COVID-19. Speaking on behalf of the federal government, the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, said the amount represented 84 per cent of the N36.3bn public funds and donations received to tackle the pandemic. Police officers in the Bwari Police Division in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have arrested a 25-year-old man identified as Hamisu Tukur for allegedly stealing a vehicle that belongs to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Headquarters at Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
