The Nigerian Police Command in Ebonyi State has successfully rescued two children aged five and ten from their captors after they were abducted from their home in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State at gunpoint. Men of the Nigerian police have arrested four journalists in Delta state on Tuesday according to reports coming out from the state. The Government of Katsina State has commissioned a new testing centre for the COVID-19 pandemic in the state to help its fight against the pandemic. The governor of Katsina state, Governor Aminu Bello Masari made this announcement while giving an update on the state’s COVID-19 pandemic situation. The governor said the testing centre is in partnership with a laboratory in the state called Sahel Medicare services. A helicopter crash has left four people dead in an airport in Chukotka, Russia. This is according to reports from TASS. The helicopter which is a military helicopter, Mi-8 was said to be having technical malfunctions and was undergoing a test flight with servicemen in the helicopter. Governor Roman Kopin said, “There were three crew members and one technician on board. All four died”. The General manager of Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria, Firihewot Mekonnen has denied that the company has any existing contract with the Nigerian government for the evacuation of its citizens stranded in Canada. “Ethiopian Airlines is not yet contracted to evacuate Nigerians from Canada. The Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) in Nnewi has confirmed that the hospital has recorder its first case of COVID-19. The Nigerian government has penalised United Kingdom aviation company, Flairjet with a fine to the sum of 1 million Naira. The aviation company were said to have violated flight rules that were passed due to the coronavirus outbreak in the world. The Abia State government is in mourning after it was reported that the Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Solomon Ogunji is Dead. The Lagos state government has announced that it has discharged an additional number of 45 COVID-19 patients after they have tested negative for the coronavirus twice consecutively. The Lagos state ministry of health (LSMOH) announced this in a tweet they released in the evening hours of Saturday 23rd May. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has given the all-clear to the 215 UK returnees for their coronavirus tests. The NCDC on Saturday gave the returnees their test results, showing that they were all negative of the virus after the UK returnees had previously held a protest demanding that their results which had been taken five days prior had yet to be issued to them. EFCC A popular businessman arrested by EFCC has died in a prison in Nigeria, Kirikiri correctional facility in Lagos on Thursday. The businessman, Jean Codo who is from the Benin Republic was arrested by the commission and is being investigated for an alleged fraud to the sum of €29m.
