“I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you sooner, I didn’t know how to confess,” Biola said to Efe while pushing a glass of wine towards her. They were on the dining table in Biola’s home and she had just confessed to Efe that she had been seeing another man aside from Seyi and finally told her that it was President Kenneth.
“How long has this been going on?” Efe, who was extremely surprised, asked before she gulped the entire glass of wine in front of her. “A few months now” Biola replied, “how… long?” Efe asked slowly, requesting more detail.
“Six months” “six months?” “I know … I know… I’m a whore” Biola condemned herself “it’s not about that, I’m just wondering how you were able to joggle two powerful men without their knowledge” Efe didn’t know whether to feel impressed or anger.
“Well… one man has knowledge of the other” Biola was done with the double life, she wanted out but didn’t know how to do it; a part of her wished someone would make her decision for her “President Kenneth knows about Seyi but Seyi doesn’t know about him?” Efe asked and Biola nodded.
It was one of the very few times that Efe saw her friend in a confused state; Biola always knew what she wanted especially when it came to men “I hate to break it to you but you have to break up with one of them… preferably President Kenneth” Efe advised and Biola nodded aggressively in agreement.
In the spirit of taking fast action, Biola called President Kenneth and broke it off with him; she told him that she didn’t want trouble with his wife “I already told you that she won’t be a problem” “asides that Kenneth, I want to focus on my relationship” she retorted and he agreed to respect her decision.
She was surprised and happy that he made the break-up very easy for her. The next few weeks were bliss for her and Seyi, she discarded of the special phone that President Kenneth gave to her and made the decision to put all her focus into her relationship with Seyi.
“You seem different” Seyi expressed his observation “as how?” “I don’t know, you’ve just been a little different in the past few weeks… good different, so I am not complaining,” he said and Biola smiled “maybe it’s because I am happy… with you” she replied stroking his face. “Then marry me” Seyi proposed, Biola was taken aback “where is this coming from?” she asked thinking that it was a spur of the moment decision.
“I know this feels like a compulsive decision but…” he brought out a small box from his pocket and opened it revealing a beautiful diamond ring “I have been carrying this around for a week now, I wanted to take you to a beautiful restaurant but the moment… this moment seemed right… so will you marry me?” he had a confident smile on his face.
“Yes I will” Biola answered and he put the ring on her finger “this is a very beautiful ring” she said admiring the ring “I know, Efe helped me pick it out” Biola was shocked to hear that. She couldn’t believe that Efe knew that Seyi was planning to propose and she didn’t tell her while she was confessing her bad deeds to her.
“She knows how to keep a secret” Biola said as a shadow of guilt flashed through her face. Asides the guilt she felt for what she did to Seyi, she was happy to finally come to terms with the decision that Seyi was the one. He was the one she was going to spend the rest of her life with… it had to be him, she thought.
He was the one who knew every dirty thing about her and still loved her; every other man was mesmerized by her beauty alone but Seyi saw her, he saw her true self. He saw the Biola behind the beautiful face and still loved her regardless.
