The International Criminal Court says it’s conducting a preliminary examination into the recent EndSARS protests in Nigeria. Office of the ICC prosecutor said the court had received information on alleged crimes during the protests. It was gathered that the examination will assess whether the legal criteria for opening an investigation under the Rome Statute are met. Earlier, the Amnesty International said security forces opened fire on protesters, killing and injuring several people. However, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the army have rejected Amnesty’s allegation. Meanwhile, the ICC said it would make findings of the preliminary examination public.

The Ekiti State government said it has discovered three hundred and sixty-two ghost workers in its civil service. Professor Adio Folayan, the Commissioner for Local Government in the state disclosed this. Folayan stated this before the committee set up by Governor Kayode Fayemi, in Ado Ekiti. The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 said Nigerians should expect massive COVID-19 infections in the next two weeks. Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and PTF Chairman disclosed this on Tuesday, November 3. The Lagos State Government has warned about a possible second wave of Coronavirus pandemic in the state. Akin Abayomi, the state’s health commissioner stressed the need for citizens to strictly adhere to COVID-19 precautionary measures. The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has inaugurated an Independent Investigative Panel. According to the commission, the panel will look into the allegations of human rights violations levelled against personnel of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS. The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC has approved the trial of embedded Subscriber Identification Modules (e-SIM) Service in Nigeria. MTN Nigeria and 9Mobile were approved to carry out the trial to determine its workability. According to NCC, the trial would run for one year, involving testing 5,000 e-SIMs by the two networks.
