The description given by the security matched that of Biola and even though he threatened the school for letting his kids go with a stranger there was proof that she presented a pickup card. Dome Alkali was scared for his children, he called Biola a thousand times but she didn’t answer her phone. He thought about involving the police but he hesitated because he didn’t want his wife to find out.
So, he went to Biola’s house but she wasn’t at home; two hours later, afraid of what Biola would do to his children he decided to go home and confess to his wife so that they can take drastic actions to find Biola.
Dome Alkali and his wife Karen were married for a while before they had fraternal twins five years ago and he cherished them more than life itself; although he wasn’t a good husband when it came to staying faithful but he was an amazing father and Biola knew this
“Daddy!” his son ran to hug him the moment he went through the front door “you are here?!” he said with surprise and great relief “where’s your sister?” he asked “she’s upstairs… she is occupied with the sowing machine your secretary bought for her” Karen answered as she welcomed him with a kiss
“My secretary?” “Didn’t you send her to pick the kids from school?” “Welcome sir” Biola’s voice was unmistakable and this time in charge. As they sat in the sitting room Dome Alkali behaved like a pigeon that had been dipped in ice water; he didn’t talk much and was quietly horrified at the fact that Biola and Karen got along so well that Karen invited her to a shopping trip.
When he walked Biola to the gate, he threatened to get her arrested if she didn’t leave him and his family alone but Biola smiled and responded “Dome Alkali, today I picked them from school and brought them home… tomorrow I may not, next tomorrow I may bring them home in a body bag… don’t annoy me any further” This time Alkali was sure he was in trouble and if he didn’t play his cards right, he could lose his family.
The next day, he had a big meeting with the chairman of Grande Bank but he was unable to prepare for the meeting because of everything that had happened with Biola. He tried reaching her to see if they could talk about things but she never answered his calls and he wondered what she was up to, her silence was killing him to the point that he stopped his children from going to school for the rest of the week.
When he entered the chairman’s office for their impending meeting, Biola was sitting comfortably on a couch. He was stunned but he tried his best to act normal and exchange pleasantries with the chairman; he even greeted Biola but she didn’t respond. She ignored him speaking only to the chairman then made her way out.
The chairman offered him a drink but he refused it, at that point he believed anything attempting to go through his throat would be regurgitated and even though he didn’t know what the meeting was about he was certain that it had to do with Biola; perhaps she had come to plot a way to take his job away from him. Hiding his fidgety fingers under the table Dome Alkali wondered how Biola knew the owner of the bank to the point of speaking to him like a friend. If he was scared of her the day before, now he was terrified.
True to his suspicion, the meeting was indeed about Biola. Dome Alkali knew that there were many men after Biola but he never knew that one of those men was the chairman and even though Biola rejected him; they ended up becoming good friends because he believed she was very smart especially when she gave him some business advice that worked perfectly.
So, when she told him that Alkali had assaulted her sexually, the chairman who was bewitched by Biola’s charm and beauty was ready to destroy whoever wanted to touch the flower that he couldn’t touch. He told Dome Alkali to either resign voluntarily or be asked to resign in the next board meeting; Alkali begged and apologized but the chairman didn’t listen, He asked Dome Alkali out of his office.
He owned eighty percent of the bank, so his vote was the only vote that mattered and as the chairman, he had a great influence on the board of directors and he was ready to do whatever it took to please Biola.
