Premier League top Manchester United were beaten 4-2 by Championship side QPR in a preseason friendly at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. The visitors opened the scoring in the first three minutes of the game through Jesse Lingard’s goal before Charlie Austin levelled the scores.
Manchester United Suffer Heavy Defeat in Preseason Game
A Lyndon Dykes double and a long-range stunner from Moses Odubajo saw QPR go 4-1 up in the second half, as they scored three times in seven minutes. Manchester United added another goal through teenage star player Anthony Elanga.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has signed a contract extension with the club, was gifted a lousy record as the defect now means their away unbeaten run has come to an end. The English Premier League side did not use their first eleven. They deployed the likes of Juan Mata and Daniel James, as most of the senior players have not resumed yet.
The Reds were also without Brazilian left-back Alex Telles, who is likely to miss the start of the season with an ankle injury, or new £73m signing Jadon Sancho. The game is their second preseason game. The first was against Derby County, which ended in their favour 3-1.
