Odion Ighalo who joined his dream club in the last January transfer window has been offered £400k-a-week by his Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua. If the 30-year-old attacker agrees he will be breaking another record as the heighest paid African in football.
Him playing for Manchester United is a record already, he is the first Nigerian to play for the Red Devils. Since his arrival he has been doing well, he has so far scored four goals with an assist as well. Odion Ighalo’s deal was scheduled to terminate on the 31st May 2020 but, it is likely to be extended until June 30 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Also United are willing to extend his loan deal with the club and his contract with the Chinese Super side is to end in December 2022 and Shanghai want to keep him until December 2024. They are offering him a new deal which is £400,000 a week before tax. Odion Ighalo is now stock in-between two lines, according to him he is having the time of his life at united but will he forgo his love now for money?
Odion Ighalo has his focus on United until his loan spell expires. He will wait to see if United offer him a permanent deal before making a final decision on his future. The Nigerian has always said it has been a dream playing for United, the club he supported as a boy.
Manchester United Manager Ole Gunnar Solzkjaer commenting on him said: “The best thing about him is his personality.” He proved he had the aptitude to match his first-class attitude. The former Watford man has not lost a match since his arrival to the club, he has scored four goals for Manchester United so far and he seems ready to bang even more goals.
