As a result of the present rise in cyber-crime, WhatsApp created the two-step verification feature to boost security on our accounts.
When you have two-step verification enabled, any attempt to hack your WhatsApp account will be futile.
To enable two-step verification for Android:
- Open WhatsApp
- Click on the three little dots at the top right corner of your screen
- Open Settings
- Tap Account
- Select Two-step verification
- Enable
- Set up your 6 digit pin
- Enter your email address
- Tap save
- All done!

To enable two-step verification for iPhone:
- Open WhatsApp
- Click on the gear icon at the lower-left corner of your screen to Open Settings
- Tap Account
- Select Two-step verification
- Enable
- Set up your 6 digit pin
- Enter your email address
- All done!
If you receive an email to disable two-step verification, but didn’t request this, don’t click on the link. Someone could be attempting to verify your phone number.
Note: To help you remember your PIN, WhatsApp will periodically ask you to enter your PIN. There is no option to disable this without disabling the two-step verification feature.
