Bayern Munich Come from Behind to Thrash Mainz
Bayern Munich recorded an emphatic 5-2 win over Mainz to return to the top of the Garman Bundesliga table. Bayern Munich scored five second-half goals as they came from 2-0 down to beat the struggling Mainz side.
Jonathan Burkardt and Alexander Hack struck to put their side in front in the first-half of the game. The two goals were huge surprise to the defending champions but they did well to come back into the game in the second-half.
Bayern Munich took only 10 seconds into the second-half to restore the scores and make it level. Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane scored one each to bring the Champions League defending champions back into the game.
Substitute Niklas Sule also scored before Robert Lewandowski scored twice, of which one was from the penalty spot. Bayern, who fell behind for the eighth straight game, replaced RB Leipzig 1-0 winners at Stuttgart on Saturday – at the top of the table, while Mainz remain second from bottom.
Victory was Bayern’s third in succession and extended their unbeaten run to 12 games.
