The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has reported 170 new cases of the coronavirus pandemic in the nation, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 2,558. The Sunday report also brings in 15 new discharged patients and 2 deaths; the agency made this announcement in a tweet released on the night of Sunday. The governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule has revealed that a member of the state’s house of assembly, Mr Sule Adamu has died from coronavirus. Mr Sule Adamu is the state’s house of assembly member representing Nasarawa Central. The governor made this known in a briefing with journalists on the COVID-19 pandemic in the state. The governor also said the house would be shut down and all the lawmakers would also be quarantined to contain the spread of the deadly virus in the state.

Kano State government has eased the lockdown imposed on the state by the president in his briefing on Monday. The Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, announced this relaxation of the lockdown himself today, Saturday. The Kano state governor said Mondays and Thursdays, from 10am to 4pm would be exempted from the lockdown, also saying that markets would not be opened, except the Yankaba Market where perishable goods are sold and the Yan Lemo market. The Kano state Almajiris sent to Bauchi are among the ten cases reported by the NCDC in their report on Friday. Six of them were Almajiris. The number of coronavirus cases in the country has risen to 1728, with the NCDC reporting a record 196 cases, with 52 new cases discharged after recovering and testing negative for the coronavirus twice, with seven new deaths also announced. The Lagos state Coronavirus team has discharged 49 more patients after they tested negative for the coronavirus twice. The number of COVID-19 cases in Adamawa has increased to 2, with a medical doctor being the second positive case. This was confirmed by the state Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri on Tuesday in the state capital, Yola. The NCDC has announced that 64 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded on Monday 27th April 2020 in the country. The cases are from five different states, and sees a further decline in cases for a third successive day. There were no new deaths reported, and 16 cases were discharged after testing negative for the virus twice. The Commissioner for Agriculture in Ekiti state has been abducted by unknown gunmen, with a councillor who was with him, killed on the crime scene. The Commissioner for information and values orientation, Muyiwa Olumilua confirmed this in a statement released on sunday. He said, “From initial reports, the kidnappers got shot one person in his entourage, the driver of the vehicle, a serving councillor, in the ensuing fracas.” The abductors have also reportedly demanded a ransom of about 30 million naira, according to sources from his community, Iye-Ekiti.

The Kano state ministry of health has announced that the state has recorded two new deaths from the novel coronavirus. This increases the total number of deaths from coronavirus in the state to three, with 74 cases still active in the state. The ministry tweeted, “As at 12:15pm 27th April 2020, @KanostateNg records an additional 2 deaths of #COVID19” There have been a lot of deaths in the state, but the state has said that those cases were from complications in other health issues, with autopsies not being carried out on the bodies before they are buried.

The country is presently lacking coronavirus test extraction kits according to the Nigeria centre for disease control, NCDC Director General. The Director-General, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu made this known in a tweet he released on Sunday,saying the type of kits that are needed and the manufacturers that make them.
