Another Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) player just died, the NPFL player is said to be a member of the Nigerian National League side Bendel Insurance. The club announced the news of his shocking death yesterday, the player who is the goalkeeper and goes by the name Umar Ahmad Jalingo died in Gombe after a brief illness. Before his untimely death, Umar Jalingo was hospitalized at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe, where he was treated after serious illness.
The Nigerian Professional Football League and other sporting activities are currently on suspension because of the coronavirus pandemic. The player was admitted in the hospital and given treatment after which he got better and was discharged by the doctors who examined him, the goalkeeper and his family members were all happy after his discharge on Wednesday, May 27.
Umar Ahmad Jalingo went to bed that night and Unfortunately, he did not wake up again, the entire NPFL players and management alongside his family members are all in sorry, the 27-year-old player was buried yesterday as his religion demands although investigations are still on going to know the actual cause of his death.
According to the release made by Bendel Insurance media officer Kehinde Osagiede, the club described the death of the NPFL player Umar Jalingo as a great loss. Mr Kehinde Osagiede said: ”It is unfortunate that we have lost one of our players Umar Ahmad Jalingo and the club are in pain and sorrow for the shocking demise as we pray that God should give the family, friends the fortitude to bear the loss.”
Umar Ahmad Jalingo left behind a wife Hajia Zuleha and four children who are living in Gombe. His death is the fourth in the Nigerian Professional Football League this 2020, some months back Nasarrawa player collapsed in the field and was rushed to the hospital where he died hours later, also Enugu Rangers players died in a motor accident and the assistant captain of Remo Stars was allegedly killed by a SARS officer.
