Zaidu Sanusi Nets First Goal for F.C Porto
Super Eagles of Nigeria and F.C Porto defender Zaidu Sanusi has been named in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week for matchday four following his impressive performance in their 2-0 over Ligue 1 side Olympic Marseille. Zaidu Sanusi opened the scoring for Porto in the first 40-minutes of the game.
The Nigeria international fired home from close range in the 39 minutes after an initial strike which was saved by Steve Mandanda the Olympic Marseille goalkeeper. It was his first-ever goal for the Dragons following his move from Santa Clara this summer. Zaidu Sanusi is the only Porto player on the shortlist to make the Uefa Champions League team of the week.
He has featured in all Porto’s four games in the Champions League this season. In the Champions League team of the week, four players from German Bundesliga made it of which three are from Borussia Monchengladbach made the list. The players are; Nico Elvedi, Oscar Wendt and Lars Stindl and Kingsley Coman of Bayern Munich.
Barcelona duo; Martin Braithwaite and Sergio Dest were also included, while Ciro Immobile (Lazio) made it from the Italian Serie A. Manchester United play maker Bruno Fernandes was the only player from the English Premier League who made it to the Uefa tean of the week.
