Former Newcastle United Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has completed a three-year move to French Ligue side Paris St-Germain. According to reports, the player left the club on a free transfer, and he is the first player Paris Saint Germain manager Mauricio Pochetino is signing since arriving at the club.

The 30-year-old Netherlands midfielder opted against signing a new contract with Liverpool, and Barcelona seems to be the favourite to sign him, but the French side outsmarts Barca to sign the player. Speaking, Georginio Wijnaldum said he is joining one of the best squads in Europe, and he wants to bring his best to the team. Wijnaldum, who is part of the Netherlands squad for Euro 2020, said: “Paris St-Germain have proved how good they are in recent years, and I am convinced that together we can go even further and higher.”
Wijnaldum joined Liverpool from Newcastle United for £25m in 2016, and since then, he has been very impressive in the club. He won one Champions League and also the English Premier League before leaving the club. The former Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven player made a total of 237 appearances for Liverpool.
Pochettino is a major influence in his decision as the player had before now stated his love and admiration for the Argentine even he was appointed a PSG manager. The manager is preparing for his first full season in charge of PSG after losing the Ligue 1 title to Lille.
