Victor Osimhen Test Positive for COVID-19
Nigeria and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has tested positive for coronavirus. The player tested positive for the virus after he hosted a house party to celebrate his birthday.
Victor Osimhen has however apologized to Napoli after breaching the coronavirus rules by celebrating his birthday with a party celebration. Osimhen tested positive for coronavirus upon his return to Naples.
The 22-year-old failed to wear a protective mask during the party was fined two weeks’ ago for his action. The forward took to the social media to apologise to Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso, the club and the fans.
According to Victor Osimhen, he said: “I am so sorry for what happened, I was wrong to go to Nigeria at this moment, even if I have many loved ones over there, including my brothers.”
He also said: “I was wrong to take part in the party I didn’t understand the severity of what I was doing. I apologise to the club, the coach, the team and the fans.”
The former Lille striker is yet to make an appearance for Napoli since suffering a shoulder injury on international duty with Nigeria in November.
Victor Osimhen, who is now isolating in his house in Italy missed Sunday’s Serie A clash against Cagliari which ended 4-1in favor of Napoli. He is also likely to miss league games Udinese, and Spezia as well as the Italian Cup game against Empoli.
