Victor Osimhen Given Squad No 9 ahead of 2020/21 Serie A season
Super Eagles of Nigeria and former Lille striker Victor Osimhen who signed for Italian Serie A club side Napoli have been given the jersey number 9 shirt ahead of the new season. The Nigerian has been impressive since joining the Italian side, he has so far scored six goals in his three friendly games he played with the club in their pre-season games.
The squad number 9 which was given to Victor Osimhen was last worn by former Tottenham Hotspur and Spain striker Fernando Llorente. Victor Osimhen linked up with Napoli from Ligue 1 club Lille on a five-year contract in July. The 21-year-old enjoyed a hugely impressive pre-season wearing No 15 but has now been rewarded with a lower squad number.
The Nigeria international scored six goals and provided one assist in three friendlies for the Partenopei. The Italian Serie A is yet to resume and with just one week left to start the league the Nigerian is already set to play their first game. Napoli will begin the new campaign against Parma on Sunday.
