Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Beat Chelsea Via Penalty Shootout
Jose Mourinho’s troops were able to come from behind to beat Frank Lampard and his boys in the Carabao Cup, it is their fourth meeting as managers. Tottenham Hotspur knocked out Chelsea in the Carabao Cup to advanced to the quarter-finals, the penalty shootout had all five Spurs players scored while Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount missed the last one to make it 5-4.
Timo Werner opened the scoring for the visitors in the first 20 minutes of the game, the German international recorded his first for the Blues. The former Leipzig striker took a touch and fired right-footed into the bottom corner after a great cutback by Cesar Azpilicuerta. They won the first half of the game but Erik Lamela’s late goal cancelled out the lead which now took them to penalty shootout as they were no extra time.
The penalty ended in Jose Mourinho’s favour as they advanced to the quarter-final. Chelsea new signing Edouard Mendy and Sergio Reguilon make their debuts for Chelsea and Spurs respectively. While former Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell made his first start for Chelsea. Eric Dier had a funny moment in the game when the call of nature called on him and hurriedly ran to the restroom. The manager Jose Mourinho who ran after the player said he understood what happened but went to tell him to be fast about it.
