The FA Cup third round draw was conducted yesterday and it has raised lots of questions. One club that as always been lucky with the draws is the defending champion Manchester City. The FA Cup is one cup that draws the attention of the whole British nations as it covers both the English Premiership, League one and Championship sides.
The FA Cup third round will see Liverpool and Everton meet in a Merseyside derby after being drawn against each other. Both sides have shared plenty of history in the competition, with Liverpool getting the upper hand in the last meeting in 2018. Virgil van Dijk scored the winner on his Liverpool debut in that fixture to see the Reds progress in their last game.
Rivals Meet Again
The draw also has Championship table-toppers Leeds head to face struggling Arsenal in the Emirate Stadium. Marcelo Bielsa’s side are currently leading the second tier on goal difference, and will fancy their chances against the Gunners. Preston’s boss Alex Neill will have to face his former side as his team is to play against Norwich. Frank Lampard’s troops will be hosting Nottingham Forest, while Cowley brothers take their Huddersfield side to Southampton.
Fulham and Aston Villa will battle it out at Craven Cottage, Leicester host Wigan, and Newcastle await the victor of either Rochdale or Boston United. All 32 third-round ties, which will take place over the weekend of January 3-6, will kick-off one minute later than usual to help promote mental health, the Football Association has announced.
Ex-Port Vale Boss Reacts to Man City Draw
The Defending Champions will be hosting League Two Port Vale side, and Crystal Palace host Derby in what could be Wayne Rooney’s Rams debut. The manager of Port Vale was not happy with the draw as his team will have to face mighty Manchester City, he said: “What a challenge.”
“It’s fantastic for the players and the crowd to come to Manchester City and play in the third round of the FA Cup. “But we might have to park the bus a few times! “It will help the new owners, who have done well. We will all be looking forward to it.”
It Is A Revenge Mission For the United Side
Jose Mourinho will be traveling with his new club Tottenham to Middlesbrough, while Manchester United travels to Wolverhampton Molineux Stadium. United will be looking to have a revenge on what Wolverhampton did to them last season but will Santo troops allow it? A question only 90 minutes of intense play can answer.
