Taiwo Awoniyi, who said he wants to return to his English Premier League side Liverpool missed Union Berlin’s Saturday’s 1-0 away win at Freiburg due to the injury. According to the club, they released a statement on their website saying: “Union Berlin will have to do without striker Taiwo Awoniyi in the coming weeks.”
Taiwo Awoniyi to Miss Some Bundesliga Games
German Bundesliga side Union Berlin has confirmed that Super Eagles and Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi will spend some time on the sidelines after sustaining a thigh injury.
A test was carried on the player, and it was discovered that he has a muscle injury to the left rear thigh. The head coach Urs Fischer has confirmed he will not be able to use the player in the upcoming matches because of the injury, which is a big blow to the team.
The 23-year-old has been impressive for Union Berlin this season after arriving on loan from Premier League club Liverpool last summer. He has scored five goals and provided four assists in 19 league games for the German side.
