Browsing: social media

About four months ago, the famous witch detector, Helen Ukpabio appeared in the news. And once again her name was mentioned with vile. The question that a lot of social media users were left to ponder is, “Can Nigerians ever forgive her for the havoc she wreaked in some families and homes across the country?” If yes, (which is greatly doubted), will they ever forget?

The notion that social media has a negative impact on mental well-being is widespread. There are talks that the reason for the unproductivity of young people is their increased use of social media. What we forget is that as the days go by, trends change; and everyone who does not change with, either ‘dies’ or becomes ‘extinct’. As a matter of fact, to be off social media these days is to commit a career or business suicide.

Social media addiction starts out just like any other addiction, the inevitable self loathing and denial must follow. You keep telling yourself you’re in control of it and you hate yourself for always going back even if it caused you trouble the last time.
