Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have overpowered local vigilantes and attacked Debiro village of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. Debiro, 48 kilometers to the local government headquarters was last attacked in the year 2018.

In 1979, Mr Goni was elected as the first civilian governor of former Borno State on the platform of the Great Nigeria Peoples Party. He governed the state until 1983 when he lost his second term bid.

The Borno Government on Wednesday announced a second death from Coronavirus pestilence. This was disclosed by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, who is also the Chairman of the State High Powered Committee on Coronavirus while giving an update on the pandemic in the state.

He said, “We made several attempts for Nigerian Military to establish their unit in Auno, they are here in Auno but as soon as it is 5 o’clock, they close the gate, lock the people out and they go back to Maiduguri, that is what has been happening”.
