Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Picks Benin to Host Super Eagles and Sierra Leone
Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Sierra Leone in the newly refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium located in Benin. This was approved by the Nigerian Football Federation to host the Super Eagles and Sierra Leone. The game 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture is the second home game for Nigeria.
The game will be played on Friday, the 13th of November. The return leg will be played four days later in Freetown. Nigeria played their last home game in the qualifier against Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium last hosted a national team game on November 12, 2011. The game it hosted saw Nigeria played 0-0 draw in a friendly by the Zebras of Botswana.
Last month Nigeria played out a 1-1 draw in a friendly by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in Austria this month after losing Algeria 1-0. The result affected the ranking in FIFA standing for Nigeria. The three-time African champions top Group L of 2021 AFCON qualifier with six points following victories in their opening two games.
