Aston Villa agreed to sign former Liverpool and Bayern Munich playmaker Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season. The deal, which is subject to a medical and a work permit being granted, includes an option to buy the 29-year-old Brazil international. Aston Villa released the statement on their website.

According to the statement, it reads: Aston Villa and Barcelona have agreed with terms for Philippe Coutinho to spend the rest of this season on loan at Villa Park. The agreement, which is subject to the player completing a medical and receiving a work permit, also includes an option to buy, and Philippe will travel to Birmingham in the next 48 hours.
Coutinho joined Barcelona in a £142m move from Liverpool in January 2018. However, the player has suffered for forming the Spanish La Liga side. Aston Villa beat Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham to sign the Brazilian. Philippe Coutinho has scored 26 goals in 106 appearances for the Catalans, has 18 months to run on his Nou Camp contract, which expires at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Barcelona was desperate to move on Coutinho after agreeing to sign Ferran Torres from Manchester City for £55m. The arrival of the player will mean there will be playing time for the Brazilian, which is why he made the Premier League return.
