A Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, known as the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) at the instance of UN Women through the Spotlight Initiative is participating at a High-Level Multi-stakeholder Continental Summit on Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls.
The summit is taking place at the sidelines of the 36th African Union Summit (Heads of States and Governments Session) from February 15 – 17, 2023 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Centre LSD, represented at the summit by its Program Coordinator, Mr. Vincent Dania, will serve as a panelist in the roundtable on Male Engagement to end Violence against Women and accountability to Women and Girls: Voices from the frontier.
He will share experience and lessons learned from the Centre’s work on the stoppage of harmful traditional and cultural practices, including the abolishment of the money woman tradition (child marriage) in Becheve kingdom of Obanliku Local Government Area, Cross River state.
He will also participate at the Gender Pre-summit, Women and Youth Financial and Economic inclusion dinner, and Presidential High-Level Advocacy Breakfast and Call to Action with the Chairperson of the African Union and President of Ghana, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo.
Centre LSD is a dedicated and active participant in the global movement to end violence against women and girls, and a trailblazer in advocacy, capacity building, and research related to gender-based violence, with particular focus on promoting male engagement and whole-community approach of creating a world where women and girls are free from violence and wield the power and agency to live their lives to the fullest.
