The Nigeria Football Federation NFF has revealed that the next coach to manage the Super Eagles will come from Eastern Europe. Gernot Rohr has been under pressure since playing out a draw with Cape Verde that as the Eagle book a spot in the World Cup playoff.
NFF Says Super Eagles Next Coach will Come from Eastern Europe
Early this week, they were rumours of his sack even though the Nigeria Football Federation NFF came out to say they are not aware of the sack rumour flying around. Gernot Rohr also came out and revealed that the Nigeria Football Federation NFF wanted him to resign to forgo the 600 million Naira released payment he was to get from them, but he said no.
On Tuesday, the Super Eagles barely scraped through to the playoff round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after a 1-1 home draw against the Blue Sharks of Cape. The West Africans also lost 1-0 at home to the Central African Republic in the qualifiers.
The football body has now made it known that even though Rohr has not been sacked, the next coach they will bring will come from Eastern Europe, which could be from either Poland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Moldova, Ukraine, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary or Belarus.
According to sources, NFF may sack the coach any moment, and there are plans to hire a new coach from Eastern Europe that will lead the Super Eagles at the 2021 Africa Nations Cup in January. Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and media officer Peterside Idah made this known on SuperSport TV programme Soccer Africa.
He said they had contacted a coach from Eastern Europe to take over from Rohr. He also said he knows the coach, but they have not permitted him to announce the name yet.
