Following the successful take over Newcastle United, the head coach of the club is now under pressure as the club will need a coach with a high profile to manage the team and Antonio Conte has emerged as the favourite to be the new manager of the club. On Thursday this week, the club confirmed that the club’s Saudi Arabian-backed takeover had been completed and it is expected that the new owners will look to replace current boss Steve Bruce.
Bruce Set to Leave Newcastle United
The 60-year-old has been in charge of Newcastle United since 2019, but the Magpies have failed to win any of their first seven Premier League games of the season and sit 19th in the table. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, former Chelsea and Inter Milan head coach Antonio Conte is top of the shortlist to take over from Bruce as the new owners want a manager with top-level experience.
The report also said that Eddie Howe, Frank Lampard and former Magpies boss Rafael Benitez are all on the list as well but the Italian is the overwhelming favourite. Antonio Conte has made a good record both in the English Premier League and Italian Serie A. He is currently out of work, having left Inter Milan in May less than a month after winning the club’s first league title in 11 years.
