At least twelve Venezuelan players and coaching staff have tested positive for coronavirus just a day before their Copa America opener against Brazil, which is the tournament host. However, according to reports, all the positive person were asymptomatic and have been isolated in a hotel.
Twelve Venezuelan Players Test Positive to Coronavirus
The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) is yet to confirm if Sunday’s match will still go on or if they will postpone it. Venezuela players arrived in Brazil for the completion on Friday and were asked to take the coronavirus test.
Some of the Venezuelan players did not travel with the team. Wilker Angel and Rolf Feltscher did not travel with the squad because they had tested positive for coronavirus before the whole team travel. Venezuela’s fixture against Brazil is scheduled to be the opening game of the 10-team competition which runs until 10 July.
