The goalkeeper recently lost his place at Brighton, but coming to Arsenal now will boost his career as he is just 28-years-old. The Australian was dropped because of Spanish goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

According to Brighton manager Graham Potter, he said: “We have incredible talent and competition at this club for just one position.” “Understandably, as Australia’s number one, Mat wants the chance of more regular opportunities.”

Mat Ryan joined the Seagulls for a club-record fee from Valencia in 2017, and he has made 121 Premier League appearances and kept 28 clean sheets. Arsenal has been looking for another goalkeeper to challenge Bernd Leno after selling Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa last September.

The Gunners are presently occupying the 10th place position in the English Premier League. They are seven places ahead of Brighton where Mat Ryan is coming from.

They are also in the fourth round of the FA Cup and the last 32 of the Europa League.
