Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire is the latest player in the United dressing room, doubtful for their Europa League final clash against Spanish top side Villarreal. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said his captain could miss a “few weeks” with the injury sustained against Aston Villa, which ended 3-1 in favour of United on Sunday.
Manchester United Skipper Harry Maguire To Miss Europa Final
Harry Maguire was visibly hurt following a challenge with Anwar El Ghazi in United’s 1-3 comeback win and was replaced by Eric Bailly after 78 minutes. Manchester United manager Solskjaer also said he is waiting to learn the extent of the damage to the lower leg injury.
The Europa League final against Villarreal will be on the 26th of May, and Maguire’s status for the fixture is unclear. He said: “Hopefully that [the final] will be okay with Harry,” Solskjaer said. “I don’t know. We need to check it. It might be a few weeks or a month – we don’t know. It was his calf or lower leg. I think the player landed on him, and he twisted something.”
The manager also clarified that the damage might not be too bad as he waits to learn of the damage. He said: “I don’t know how serious it is. He might be available on Tuesday, and he might not.” For now, as it stands, his playing is under probability.
