Man United beat Everton for the Second Time
Late strikes by Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial earned Man United a place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals at the expense of Everton. Man United new signing Edinson Cavani gave a fine stunning curling effort from 20 yards to end Everton’s resistance in front of 2,000 fans, just as the game looked set to head to penalties.

After the Uruguayan’s touch of class broke the deadlock, France international Anthony Martial added a second in stoppage time as Everton chased the game, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to earn his first trophy as United boss.
Everton were lacklustre in the second half, after Richarlison went off injured, having promised much in the first period, with Gylfi Sigurdsson’s free-kick testing Dean Henderson.

Defeat for Carlo Ancelotti’s team ends a run of three successive wins which has lifted them to fourth in the Premier League table. After the Man United captain, Harry Maguire said: “It was an excellent performance and we should have been out of sight, we had three or four great chances. We need to be more clinical.”
“Edinson Cavani’s finish was excellent on his weak foot too. He’s had an injury but it’s good to have him back, he’s been a top striker throughout his career.”
“We are expected to win trophies. It’s important to reach these big games but we have to start winning them and lift some trophies for this club. “We controlled the game and fully deserved the win.”
