Luis Diaz Shines Liverpool in Win over West Ham United
The Hammers’ frustration was compounded by the loss of in-form Jarrod Bowen to what looked like a significant injury. Mohamed Salah missed the first chance of the game as he hit the ball against goalkeeper Fabianski.
Liverpool £37.5m January arrival from Porto, Luis Diaz was named the man of the match following his good play in the game. The Colombian produced a wonderful piece of skill to create an early chance for himself which he drove into Craig Dawson’s face.
He also came close twice in the second half to score with the first of those particularly impressive in the way he manipulated Mane’s pass into a scoring chance that went narrowly wide. When he was replaced in the final minute of injury time, his standing ovation was fully deserved.
Manuel Lanzini blazed over when well placed as West Ham pushed for an equalizer after the break. West Ham United hitman Michail Antonio also had an effort well blocked by Naby Keita just outside the six-yard box as the Reds held on.
