The long-awaited debut for Argentine international Lionel Messi finally came, and it did not go as expected by many of his fans and Paris Saint Germain fans. The football star came on as a second-half substitute to make his Paris Saint Germain debut in a Ligue 1 against Stade de Reims.
Lionel Messi Marks is Debut for Paris Saint Germain
Paris Saint Germain won the game, but it was not the winning people expected, fans were expecting the former Barcelona player to score on his debut as an announcement to the league, but it did not go that way. Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe scored the two goals to help the France giant secure a 2-0 win.
Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint Germain from Barcelona on a two-year contract earlier this month, replaced Brazil striker Neymar in the 66th minute. Mbappe opened the scoring in the 14th minute of the game with a header to put the Ligue 1 giants 1-0 ahead. The World Cup winner then scored his brace in the 63rd minute of the game by getting on the end of a pin-point cross from Hakimi on the counter.
Paris Saint Germain has won all four of their opening league games and top the table on 12 points. But, for Messi, fans are saying the start is a low spirit start for a player of his calibre, but other people are saying it could be because he did not start the game.
