Lionel Messi Set to Sign New Contract with Barcelona
The player who has been the talk of the transfer market since he tried to force a move away from Barcelona last summer has finally concluded on where he will spend the next two years of footballing life. Lionel Messi did not commit his future to the club during the 2020-21 campaign, although many clubs came for him.
The likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain were all coming for the player as it was assumed that he would leave Barcelona at the end of this month. However, reports in Spain have claimed that Lionel Messi has decided to remain in Barcelona and will soon sign a new deal with the club until the summer of 2023.
Messi is, therefore, set to work with his countryman Sergio Aguero at Camp Nou for the 2021-22 season. The 34-years-old scored 38 goals and provided 14 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona last season.
