Barcelona Declares Messi and Suarez Fit for Today’s Game
Barcelona duo Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi have been declared fit to face Mallorca in their first La Liga action, the La Liga leaders will return to action after a long break from football because of the global pandemic coronavirus. Barcelona will be travelling to Mallorca with the hope of extending their gap by four points over rival Real Madrid.
Barcelona point man Luis Suarez went to injury even before the lockdown and it made the club to sign an emergency attacker from their league, the 33-year-old and Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has both been declared fit to face Mallorca this evening. The Uruguayan striker had enough time to recover after he underwent surgery on his right knee in January.
Top scorer Messi had a thigh problem but the 32-year-old Argentine forward returned to training this week as Barca prepare for their first game in over three months. The head coach of the team Quique Setien said in a statement that the player is doing perfectly well and there is no problem with the player returning to the team.
The coach also said about Suarez, that the player is better than they expected. But the only problem is how ready is he after a long break from football he is not sure if the player will start or not but he knows the player will play. French defender Samuel Umtiti is also fit again but fellow French defender Clement Lenglet is suspended so 21-year-old Uruguayan Ronald Araujo could make just his second Barca appearance.
Barcelona regained top place position after Messi scored his 19th league goal of the season in their last and Real Madrid lost to Real Betis. Barcelona is two points clear with 11 rounds left in La Liga, which resumed with Sevilla’s derby win over Real Betis on Thursday. Hosts Mallorca are third-bottom after winning 2-1 at fellow strugglers Eibar in their last game before the enforced break.
