Leicester City and Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho made history as he becomes the third Nigerian to score on his birthday. He scored in Leicester City’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
Kelechi Iheanacho Joins Okacha, Obafemi Record List in EPL
Kelechi Iheanacho gave the former Premier League champions the lead in the 31st minute of the game. The former Manchester City star capitalised on Joachim Andersen’s mistake. That made him the third Nigerian to score on his birthday joining former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha and Obafemi Martins on the exclusive list.
Austin Jay Jay Okocha was the first Nigerian to achieve the feat on the 14th of August in 2004, netted a brace on his birthday as Bolton Wanderers defeated Charlton Athletic 4-1. Also, Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins equalled the feat four years later with a goal on his 24th birthday in the 2-1 win against West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League.
