Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has been named the English Premier League manager of the month for the month of November. The 57-year-old emerged winner of the prestigious award after guiding his side to win three straight games and one draw in the month under review.
Tottenham Hotspurs won Brighton and Hove Albion in their first game of the month 2-1 in the former White Hart Lane Stadium. They also won West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.
Jose Mourinho and his team did well against Chelsea but it ended in a stalemate at Stamford Bridge late in the month. They also kept three clean sheets in four league games in the penultimate month of the year and Mourinho beats fellow nominees Frank Lampard, David Moyes and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to win the prize.
He became the third Premier League manager of the month in the ongoing season after Carlo Ancelotti of Everton and Wolves Nuno Espirito Santo.
September: Carlo Ancelotti (EVE) October: Nuno Espirito Santo (WOL) November: Jose Mourinho (TOT) While reacting to the news, Mourinho said his players also deserved praises.
He thanked them for the victory over Manchester City and the way they achieved the result in the game. He told the Premier League website: “That win against Manchester City and the way we did it, with a performance that we as staff consider a very complete one. We were very good in every moment of the game.”
“It was the first of three consecutive matches – Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal where from a mental point, if you do not get victory in the first one it is probably going to affect your self-esteem and confidence for the next one.”
“November as a month highlights the momentum, what we are and the reason why we are doing so well.” This is the fourth time the former Manchester United and Chelsea Manager is winning the award in his reign in the Premier League. He has also won three managers of the season glories and also three EPL titles
