Manchester United star player Jesse Lingard who is currently on loan with West Ham United has been named the English Premier League Player of the Month for April. Jesse Lingard beats Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho and six other players to win the individual award.
Kelechi Iheanacho was looking to become the second Super Eagles player to win the award more than once but was beaten by the English man. Only Peter Osaze Odemwingie won the individual award more than once after he was named the league’s best player in September 2010, April 2011 and February 2012.
Jesse Lingard Wins Player of the Month

Lingard who arrived on loan from Manchester United in January won the prize at the third attempt after also being short-listed in February and March. After receiving the award, he said “I’ve been nominated for the past two months and even getting nominated is a great feeling for me.”
the player also said “I want to be up there as the best I can be and the best in the world. “[David Moyes] has shown faith and given me the freedom in each game to go and perform.” Jessi Lingard scored four goals and gave one assist in April. He scored against Wolves before scoring two in their game against Leicester City. Lingard also scored Newcastle United although they lose the game.
The 28-year-old wins the honour for the first time and is the first West Ham player to win the award since Michail Antonio in July 2020. Lingard topped an eight-man shortlist that also included Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Stuart Dallas, Mason Greenwood, Matheus Pereira, Allan Saint-Maximin and Chris Wood.
