Following the shocking 0-0 draw played Liverpool against ten-man Arsenal, one of the club’s legends, Jamie Carragher, has warned the club’s owners to ensure they meet with Mohammed Salah’s request. Carragher said they would never forgive the club owners if they allowed Mohamed Salah to leave.
Jamie Carragher Says Liverpool Board Should Give Salah New Deal ASAP
Salah’s current deal at Liverpool runs until the summer of 2023, and the player wants to remain at Anfield. Carragher believes that the club should not hesitate to give the player whatever he wants despite the Egypt International reportedly demanding to become the highest-paid player in the English Premier League.
The impact of the African was felt in their game against Arsenal as they failed to grab all three points from the encounter because of the player’s absence. Jamie Carragher said: “Those two players [Salah and Mane] are a big miss, and this talk of Salah’s contract will probably intensify even more because when he is not there, you see the effect it has.”
The former Liverpool player also said: “As a Liverpool supporter, you should be wary that this [Salah’s contract situation] is dragging on. Other big players at Liverpool have signed contracts in the last three or four months, the goalkeeper [Alisson Becker], Trent [Alexander-Arnold], Virgil van Dijk, huge figures in this team.”
Jamie Carragher believes Salah’s demand is not out of place as he is one of the best players in the English Premier League presently. Arsenal was able to hold Liverpool to a draw despite their player being sent out in the 24th minuter of the game. The game, which was earlier postponed due to Covid-19 complications in the Liverpool squad, was played yesterday, and the absence of Salah and Mane was shown in the game as they could not find the back of the net.
