Barcelona has signed Netherlands striker Luuk De Jong from Sevilla on a season-long loan. They allowed France’s Antoine Griezmann back to his former side Atletico Madrid on a similar deal. Barcelona will pay the 31-year-old De Jong’s salary this season and have an option to make his stay permanent next summer.
Antoine Griezmann Returns to Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid will be in the same way pay Griezmann’s salary this season, but there is a compulsory clause to make the transfer permanent. The 30-year-old returns to Atletico Madrid two years after he joined Barcelona for £107m. Griezmann scored 133 goals in 257 games for Atletico, winning the Europa League, Uefa Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup in the Spanish capital.
But the 30-year-old only managed to score 35 goals in 102 games for Barcelona and managed to win only the Copa del Rey with them. Last summer, Atletico signed striker Luis Suarez from Barcelona, and he helped Diego Simeone’s side win La Liga.
