Spanish La Liga top side F.C Barcelona had their presidential election on Sunday, and it ended in favour of Joan Laporta. The interim president has returned as the Barcelona president. Laporta has voted ahead of Victor Font and Toni Freixa.
Joan Laporta Voted Barcelona President
Joan Laporta has now been named the 42nd president of the Barcelona football club. The ex-president returns to the role that he had held from 2003 until 2010, having obtained 54.28 per cent of the votes, totalling 30,184 of the club’s members.
He will now remain in the club as the president until 2026, when his reign will be due. In 2003, Laporta received 52.6 per cent of the votes to win, with 27,138 people voting his way.
This year’s vote for the first time took place across six different locations, and it was also through postal ballots, which 20,000 people took advantage of. Before now, the newly elected president made his intentions known on how much needed to sign Aguero, and maybe the Argentine will be the first, he will sigh.
