Celebrated Nigerian actress, Genevieve Nnaji, has added another feather in her cap as she has been chosen as the ambassador of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2020.
Genevieve Nnaji has carved a niche for herself in the Nigerian Movie Industry (Nollywood) as well as Hollywood. Her debut directorial movie ‘Lion Heart‘ got her an Oscar nomination and was the first Nigerian movie ever submitted to Oscars Award.
The ‘Lion Heart’ director which also got a nomination in the Grolsch People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival has now joined the list of 50 celebrated filmmakers and actors who are invited as the ambassadors of the TIFF.
The movie star, a month ago, was listed by The Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences in its list of new members, with 819 invitees.
Genevieve Nnaji Joins Other Movie Stars
Genevieve Nnaji joined the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Tatiana Maslany, Donnie Yen, Julie Delpy, Brie Larson and several others on the list.
According to TIFF, many of the ambassadors will engage with audiences through interactive digital experiences and events.
Nigerian-born British actor, David Oyelowo, has also be lined up as a guest speaker as part of the TIFF Rising Stars program.
The film festival this time would be opting for digital screenings and virtual red carpets due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 2020 Toronto International Film Festival is set to hold on September 10 to September 19, 2020.
