Former Manchester United Star Ander Herrera Test Positive for Coronavirus
Former Manchester United and Athletic Bilboa player Ander Herrera will not be available to face his former club Manchester United in the Champions League after testing posting for coronavirus. Paris Saint-Germain will play their opening fixture without six of their key players who are also recovering from the disease.
The likes of Julian Draxler, Marquinhos, Marco Verratti, Thilo Kehrer and Mauro Icardi have been ruled out of the clash which will take place at Parc des Princes. The Spanish midfielder who left Old Trafford on a free transfer in 2019 will miss the opportunity to play against his former teammates due to the Covid-19 infection.
Newly-signed Portuguese midfielder Danilo Pereira is also not listed for the game after coming in contact with his national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo who tested positive while on international duty. The last time Paris Saint-German and Manchester United met in 2019, United won the day to qualify into the last eight on an away-goal rule.
Edison Cavani will also be looking at the opportunity to face his former club after making a deadline day move to United as a free agent. The Uruguayan is PSG’s all-time highest goalscorer with over 200 goals and admitted that he consulted with Herrera before deciding to join up with Ole Gunnar Spolskjaer’s squad.
