Eriksen Eyes 2022 Fifa World Cup Call-up

Former Tottenham and Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen say his goal is to play at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as he continues his recovery from the cardiac arrest he suffered during Euro 2020 in June. The player was told he could not play for Inter Milan in Italy after being fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator – a type of pacemaker.

Speaking to Danish broadcaster DR, he said: “Whether I’ll be picked is another thing. I’m sure I can come back because I don’t feel any different. Physically, I’m back in top shape.”

The “player also said; [The World Cup has] been his goal, and even though is still some time away, he is traini8ng very hard so that he can get a chance to be called when the time comes. “My dream is to rejoin the national team and play at Parken [Denmark’s home stadium] again and prove that it was a one-timer and that it won’t happen again. I want to prove I’ve moved on and that I can play on the national team again.”

In December, Christian Eriksen terminated his contract with Italian top side Inter Milan, but he has since been training alone in Denmark. The player also hints at a possible return to the English Premier League. He said returning to England would make him feel like going back home. The information was made known by his agent Martin Schoots.
