EPL Matchday 18 games resumes after the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Manchester United Manchester City Aston Villa and Leicester City all proceeded to the next stage. The EPL Matchday 18 action will be without Liverpool who are playing in the Club World Cup. As usual we will be giving analysis and then make predictions afterwards.
Everton vs Arsenal
Everton will be looking to bounce back from their Carabao Cup lose to Leicester when they host Arsenal in Matchday 18. The game will be in Goodison Park and is expected to be one of the most interesting games of Saturday’s program. The Toffees have been struggling to live up to their expectations in the 2019/2020 season. They are sitting in the bottom half of the standings. However, new boss Duncan Ferguson undisputedly helped the team regain a much-needed confidence.
The Toffees did well to beat Chelsea 3-1 on Ferguson’s debut. They also drew at Old Trafford against Manchester United at the weekend. Seeing that the hosts are high on spirits ahead of the visit of Arsenal, we predict that they are going to find the net in Saturday’s match. The Gunners, on the other hand, aim to stay in the race for a place in the Champions League. With their attacking potential, we believe that punters can find value in betting on both teams to score.
Manchester City vs Leicester City
Manchester City will be aiming to keep their hopes of winning the Premier League trophy alive when they host Leicester City at their Etihad Stadium. The Citizens are likely to go all guns blazing at the Foxes, in the Matchday 18 encounter. In Kun Aguero’s absence, a man to watch in the home team will be Kevin de Bruyne, who scored a brace against Arsenal.
Leicester City have been producing a terrific performance in the league this season under Brendan Rodgers in the 2019/2020 season. It will be clash of cities and battle for the second place as both team are sitting second and third. The Foxes dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with Norwich City at the weekend, but Jamie Vardy once again proved his worth. Experienced attacker Jamie Vardy is enjoying yet another season to remember, and we predict that he is going to prove a handful in the game. Anyhow, a lively contest is on the cards at Etihad Stadium, and we are tempted to put our money on over 2.5 goals.
Watford vs Manchester United
After sharing the spoils with Everton at their Old Trafford, Manchester United will be looking to return to winning ways. They will be traveling to Watford at Vicarage Road in the EPL Matchday 18 campaign. The Red Devils are undefeated in the last six league fixtures, but they need to start a new winning run as soon as possible. United are still hopeful for a Champions League spot so they will be out their minds on Sunday.
The Red Devils did well to beat Manchester City on the road in their last league fixture. With their recent form, fans a are now more confident of the team and are optimistic ahead of the trip to Watford. A man to keep an eye on in the away team will be Marcus Rashford, who has been in a fine form in the first half of the season. As expected, the Hornets suffered a 2-0 loss at Liverpool in their last league match. Despite changing the manager, the Hornets are unlikely to make life difficult of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops.
Tottenham vs Chelsea
Thanks to Jan Vertonghen’s late goal Tottenham defeated Wolverhampton at Molineux Stadium at the weekend. Spurs have already recorded four Premier League wins under new boss Jose Mourinho. The manager is on the right track to help the capital club regain their spot in top four position. Tottenham players are high on spirits ahead of the local derby, and they aim to take advantage of the fact.
As always, Harry Kane will lead the line for the hosts, but the opposition defenders should have Korea international Son at bay as well. Following a 3-1 loss at Everton, the Blues suffered yet another shocking defeat at home in the weekend. Frank Lampard’s troops failed to impress in a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth. We believe that punters can find value in betting on Jose Mourinho’s men, who regained a much-needed confidence.
