Edinson Cavani Tenders Apology after his Instagram Post went Wrong
Manchester United attacker Edinson Cavani has tendered an apology following the heavy attack he faced on social media over what he posted on his Instagram page. His post on social media was labelled as ‘racist’ in which the former Paris-Saint-Germain star had to delete it after he realized what it meant.
The player had no idea how serious what he post was, as he saw the heat from football fans he immediately brought it down. According to the latest report on Mirror UK, Edinson Cavani explained that he never knew that the post he made would generate such comments from fans. He added that the message he passed was an affectionate greeting and he had no intention to hurt people with his post.
According to Edinson Cavani, he said: “The message I posted after the game on Sunday was intended as an affectionate greeting to a friend, thanking him for his congratulations after the game.” “The last thing I wanted to do was cause offence to anyone. ”
He also said: “I am completely opposed to racism and deleted the message as soon as it was explained that it can be interpreted differently. I would like to sincerely apologise for this.” Edinson Cavani joined Manchester United on a free transfer, he has so far played five games for the Red Devils and has netted three goals with one assist. Manchester United are currently occupying the 8th place position on the Premier League table with 16 points after nine games played so far.
