Nathan Ake to Manchester City Almost Done Deal
Bournemouth who has just been relegated have accepted a £40m bid from Manchester City for defender Nathan Ake, an additional £1m is said to be made after the deal is finalised. Netherlands 25-year-old international joined Bournemouth in 2017 for a club-record fee and he has so far made 121 appearances for the Cherries.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been following the defender since the departure of Vincent Kompany, he is hoping to use the defender to start next season. Nathan Ake has been a target for not just Manchester City but also Chelsea, Bournemouth was relegated from the Premier League after finishing 18th on the league table, while Manchester City finished runners-up and Chelsea in the fourth place.
It was understood the Nathan Ake would leave Bournemouth this summer whether Eddie Howe’s men stayed in the top flight or not. However, their relegation was the trigger for City to open talks. Ake, who played 29 of Bournemouth’s 38 games in the Premier League this season, has been capped 13 times by his country and has previously played club football for Chelsea, Watford and Reading.
