Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. The London team did well to beat their former manager on his first return to the club. However, they missed so many chances in the game that took place at Wembley. German star player Kai Havertz gave Chelsea an early lead when he ran onto Marcos Alonso’s through ball and fired home with Davinson Sanchez unable to keep the shot out on the line.
Chelsea Almost Set for Carabao Cup Final
The Blues had ‘their second in a hilarious way as it was an own goal as Japhet Tanganga headed the ball into team-mate Ben Davies’ shoulder, and it flew into the net. Romelu Lukaku returned to the teapot to face his former manager Antonio Conte. Antonio Conte and his side changed to a back four after a torrid first half, had to wait until the 50th minute for a shot, with Harry Kane’s free-kick saved by Kepa.
But the chances continued to come for the Blues, with Hugo Lloris denying three of their players from find ^ing the back of the net. Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech and the returning Timo Werner all made a tremendous impact in the game. The Spurs will need to be much better in a week in the second leg to have any chance of reaching Wembley.
