Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is supposedly forcing his way out of the English Premier League side amid interest from Barcelona. The striker’s contract will expire by the end of next month, and all indications are that the player will not renew his contract. The Uruguay international has endured an injury-hit 2021-22 season and has only made eight appearances in all competitions this term due to a tendon issue.
Edinson Cavani Ready to Leave United in January
Edinson Cavani was strongly linked with an exit from Manchester United over the summer. Still, he ultimately stayed put after his 12-month contract extension was over, but he has hinted now that he won’t be staying in the club after his contract expires. Mundo Deportivo claims that the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker has decided that he is keen to move elsewhere, and Barcelona is his preferred destination.
The report also says that Cavani is not bothered by Barca’s failure to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages, and the same can also be said for Ferran Torres. In the attacker’s first season at Old Trafford, he scored 17 goals and provided ten assists from 40 appearances in all competitions, including 10 Premier League strikes.
