The Bundesliga was suspended since 13th of March because of the outbreak of the global pandemic coronavirus, they intended the league to resumee on or before 30th of April. According to Gelson Fernandes Eintrancht Frankfurt midfilder he said: “When we come back, it will be behind closed doors.” “I think that will be in late May. It’s impossible to think that in June, July, August, we’d be playing in front of 50,000 people. That would be wrong,”
The 33-years-old former Manchester City player said three or four Eintracht Frankfurt players caught the coronavirus and are all observing the self-isolation requirement for 14 days. Presently some tBundesliga clubs have resumed training, they are currently training in groups of three or four and are not allowed contact with each other for now, they are only working on passing and shooting drills.
Also, only three players are allowed in the dressing room and they cannot use the gym for now. Fernandes said: “It’s nice to be on the pitch but we are being careful washing hands and everything and we feel lucky.” The player also said “That’s the only way we can keep doing our jobs. “Physically when I was on my own we had to do a lot of bike work and I didn’t lose much fitness. We are now training but it’s not the same as matches.”
Fernandes also told reporters that players will need “three or four weeks” to get ready for the season to resume or there will be injuries”. Bundesliga chief executive Christian Seifert told the New York Times that plans were being put in place for games to return by the beginning of May.
The Bundesliga has just nine more games to end the season, the season will be completed by the end of June if everything go according to their plan. Bayern Munich players have returned to training and Eintracht Frankfurt have also resumed training along side some other clubs in Germany. for now all the games will be played behind closed doors until the virus is total wiped out from the Europe.
