English Premier League top side Tottenham has completed the signing of Sevilla winger Bryan Gil, with Spurs Argentine midfielder Erik Lamela joining the Spanish club as part of the deal. The 20-year-old player agreed on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee. Bryan Gil made his Spain debut in March and is part of the squad at the Olympics.
Bryan Gil Joins Tottenham as Lamela Joins Sevilla
He made 14 La Liga appearances for Sevilla, all as a substitute. On the other hand, 29-year-old Argentina international Lamela, who joined Tottenham from the Italian side AS Roma for £25.7m in 2013, has joined Sevilla as part of the deal for Gil. Erik Lamela was one of seven players along with Christian Eriksen, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Vlad Chiriches and Nacer Chadli. The club signed in the summer when Gareth Bale left for Real Madrid.
Lamela becomes the last of the seven to leave Spurs. He scored 37 goals in 255 appearances for the Premier League side. He was an unused substitute in the 2019 Champions League final defeat by Liverpool. Bryan Gil came through Sevilla’s youth academy before making his senior debut in January 2019.
His final appearance came in September 2020 before he joined Eibar on a season-long loan. So far, he has scored four goals in 28 league appearances for Eibar, who finished bottom of the La Liga table last season.
